Powerful 7.7 Magnitude Earthquake Hits Myanmar
The Diocese of Fort Worth has deep ties with the Anglican Province of Myanmar and specifically with Bishop David Nyi Nyi Naing and the Mandalay Diocese where the epicenter of a 7.7 magnitude earthquake struck on Friday, March 28.
This deadliest natural disaster to hit the country in years comes at a time when the recent civil war has already damaged communication networks, health infrastructure and millions are without adequate food and shelter.
The ongoing conflicts and limited resources hamper the rescue efforts. The situation is dire, and the Church in the affected communities is in urgent need of our prayers.
Please pray for Archbishop Stephan Than, Bishop David Nyi Nyi of Mandalay Diocese, Bishop John Zau Li of Myitkyina Diocese, and Bishop Alan Kyan Myo Naing of Homalin Diocese, along with their clergy and laity.
Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayers:
Rescue the suffering and those who are trapped.
Comfort those who are grieving the loss of loved ones.
Provide for their practical needs of food and shelter.
Bring a lasting peace to this land.
May your Church worldwide respond by bringing your love into this great suffering that those who don't yet know you will be brought into your saving embrace.
