Please join the World Mission Committee in praying for our global partners and the persecuted church.

TOGETHER THREE YEARS

The World Mission Committee has been publishing this prayer update for three years! What a blessing it has been to intercede together for our global partners and for God's world.

We have decided to make a few changes in our format which we hope will strengthen our time together. Our monthly focus will be on one global partner at a time, and we hope to have opportunities to hear from you or to answer any questions you might have. Joining Our Hearts will now come into your mailbox at the first of each month.

The Reverend Kevin Cable and his wife, Jen.

ANGLICAN CHURCH IN JAFFA, ISRAEL

Please join Bishop Reed and the World Mission Committee in prayer for Father Kevin Cable and his wife, Jen as they answer God’s call to begin an Anglican Church in Jaffa, Israel. Father Kevin is a Jewish believer in Jesus and Jen is a nurse. Their call is to re-establish the Anglican congregation in Jaffa and Tel Aviv, and to work with their local Christian neighbors to strengthen the presence of Christ in the community.

Father Kevin and Jen work as part of CMJ (The Churches Ministry Among Jewish People) across Israel, whose ministry includes teaching on the Jewish roots of the Christian faith, combatting Anti-Semitism, and working to alleviate the suffering of the poor and marginalized in the Land of Israel, regardless of ethnic background.

Their congregation began in Jaffa in 2021 with just one person; today they are a congregation of 15-20. The focus of their ministry is building up discipleship and biblical studies relevant to everyday living in the modern State of Israel. In addition, the fledgling congregation is partnered with another Christian organization to support ministry to the homeless and those suffering from addiction in Tel Aviv. They also run a Parent of Toddler’s Group.

With Thanksgiving, please join us in prayer for Father Kevin and Jen as they continue to answer God's call to reach the communities of Jaffa and Tel Aviv with the Gospel. Please pray they may find a more permanent location for their worship and ministry, and the means to fund it. Pray for a resolution to the ongoing political issues and mass protests across the country, that are now affecting the daily activities of many ordinary people.

FOR THE PERSECUTED AND
SUFFERING CHURCH

Church in Pakistan:

A Pakistani terror group has threatened to attack Pakistani Christians and churches in retaliation for a burning of the Quran in Sweden recently. The group said it will also initiate suicide bombings targeting members of the minority in Pakistan. Churches have been locked and among the communities there is chaos and fear. Pray for the Lord to be present and to bring protection and peace.

Church in Myanmar:

The ongoing civil war and recent Cyclone Mocha continue to exacerbate the needs of the people across Myanmar. Restrictions on humanitarian access to cyclone victims continues. Continue to pray for Archbishop Stephen and all the dioceses in Myanmar as they respond to this ongoing crisis.
Recent reports are that despite the horrific military dictatorship and ongoing fighting, the Gospel is spreading! As an example, Bishop John Zai Li has established boarding houses for secondary students in his diocese. Buddhist and Animist students have been coming to Christ through this witness. May the Lord continue to reach these students with His love.

Church in Kenya:

From Jerry Kramer, “There is major civil unrest in Kenya. Daily protests have spread across the country with some killed. Many are asking the military to intervene and dissolve the government. The issues are the doubling of taxes and skyrocketing cost of living. People cannot afford the basics and are growing desperate.” Please pray for peace and provision for the people. Pray for the Church as it responds to this very difficult situation.

OFFERING THANKSGIVING

We thank God for the recent visit to Malawi by Kristi Heffron and the training sessions in Financial Management with the leadership of parishes in the Diocese of Northern Malawi. May this companion partnership continue to grow strong as we partner in the Gospel. We thank you Lord that you cause us to increase and abound in love for one another.
We offer thanks and praises for the wonderful Family Camp at Camp Crucis earlier this month. We thank Thee Lord that you have blessed us with the joy and care of children.

SHARE WITH US

Often when we pray for God's world, we are blessed with a particular scripture or word. Sometimes the Lord gives us images. I often have an image of the silhouette of two friends standing in the evening on the side of a mountain. It reminds me of God and Abraham as they discuss Sodom and Gomorrah. Often when I'm busy with all the activities of life, I get this invitation to "stop and stand with me".
